KDJ WHALE PRO Trading Guide

Last updated: February 17, 2026

The KDJ Signal Pro is a sophisticated momentum oscillator that layers the Efficiency Ratio (ER) on top of smoothed KDJ lines to categorize the market into distinct phases, filtering out noise to deliver high-probability Buy and Sell signals.

What does the indicator show?

  • K / D / J Lines: The core oscillator lines tracing short-term momentum. The J line is highly responsive and turns red when falling.
  • Colored Background Phases: Background shading indicating the maturation of a trend (Preparation, Phase 2, etc.) based on the Efficiency Ratio.
  • Buy (B) / Sell (S) Labels: Distinct markers painted when all conditions across the KDJ crossover and the volatility phase align.

Key Settings

  • KDJ Period & Smoothings: The lengths governing the speed and noise reduction of the underlying K/D/J lines.
  • ER Lookback: The window used to calculate the Efficiency Ratio (trend directionality vs noise).
  • ER Long / Short Thresholds: Set how "efficient" or clear the trend must be to validate taking a phase 2 or phase 3 signal.

How to use Strategy Parameters (Condition Source)

Within the Strategy Tester module, you can catch reversals via the indicator's strict phase logic.

1. Action Labels

  • Buy Signal — Triggers true strictly on the bar where the bullish KDJ sequence and ER rules are satisfied.
  • Sell Signal — Triggers true on the validated bearish setup.

Strategy Example: Simply opening a trade when Buy Signal is_true effectively automates the indicator's complex internal state machine.

2. Oscillators & Phases

  • K / D / J Line — The numerical values (0-100) of the oscillator.
  • Efficiency Ratio — The calculated ER value showing trend straightness vs chop.
  • Long / Short Phase — The integer step (0, 1, 2, 3) representing the current structural setup.
