ICT Trading Guide

Last updated: April 11, 2026

The ICT Concepts indicator maps market structure, order blocks, and fair value gaps into strategy-ready signals. It now exposes separate event pulses for bullish and bearish BOS/MSS, creation of new order blocks, breaker transitions, and new or filled FVGs, alongside active zones and exact OB boundaries.

What does the indicator show?

  • Market Structure: Dashed structure lines labeled BOS or MSS when price breaks the tracked swing high or swing low for the selected term.
  • Order Blocks: Bullish and bearish OB rectangles that stay active until invalidated, then flip into breaker state or disappear depending on the settings.
  • Fair Value Gaps: Bullish and bearish imbalance zones that stay active until price mitigates or fills them.

Key Settings

  • Structure Term: Controls whether BOS and MSS are tracked on short, intermediate, or long structure.
  • OB Term and Max Order Blocks: Control the depth of OB detection and how many recent blocks stay visible.
  • Hide Breakers: Removes invalidated order blocks from the drawing layer instead of keeping them as breakers.
  • FVG Threshold: ATR-based strictness filter for how large a gap must be before it is accepted as a valid FVG.

How to use Strategy Parameters (Condition Source)

Inside Strategy Tester, ICT now exposes separate Condition Source entries instead of one generic market structure pulse.

1. Structure Events

  • BOS Bull / BOS Bear — Fires only on the bar where a bullish or bearish Break of Structure is confirmed.
  • MSS Bull / MSS Bear — Fires only on the bar where a bullish or bearish Market Structure Shift occurs.
  • Any Market Structure Signal — Convenience pulse that turns true on any BOS or MSS event.

2. Order Block Workflow

  • Bull Order Block Zone / Bear Order Block Zone — Active OB zones for spatial rules such as price_enters, price_inside, and price_exits.
  • New Bullish OB / New Bearish OB — Pulses on the bar where a fresh order block is created.
  • Bullish OB Breaker / Bearish OB Breaker — Pulses when an active order block is invalidated and turns into a breaker.
  • Bull OB Top / Bull OB Bottom / Bear OB Top / Bear OB Bottom — Exact price boundaries of the latest active OB for value comparisons or fixed exits.

3. Fair Value Gap Workflow

  • Bull FVG Zone / Bear FVG Zone — Active imbalance zones for spatial checks.
  • New Bullish FVG / New Bearish FVG — Pulses when a fresh FVG is printed.
  • Bullish FVG Filled / Bearish FVG Filled — Pulses when an active FVG is mitigated or filled and deactivates.
