GRAVITY VELOCITY DRIFT Trading Guide

Last updated: June 17, 2026

The Gravity Velocity Drift (GVD) Sniper is an institutional-grade hybrid indicator designed to detect high-probability trend reversal sweeps. It combines volume-weighted momentum velocity and acceleration with Kaufman's Efficiency Ratio (ER) and candlestick shadow sweep rules to identify key pivot points. In addition to a sub-panel oscillator, it prints dynamic Take Profit and Stop Loss levels directly on the price chart.

Core Components & Logic

The indicator implements several filters to verify reversals:

  1. Volume-Weighted Velocity & Acceleration: Momentum is weighted by relative volume compared to its moving average, highlighting high-conviction institutional moves.
  2. Sliding Normalization: A specialized double-ended queue tracks the absolute acceleration peaks over a lookback window, scaling the oscillator strictly to [-100, 100] to eliminate asset-scaling issues.
  3. Kaufman Efficiency Ratio (ER): Measures structural efficiency. Reversals are only accepted when ER is low, confirming trend exhaustion (sideways/choppy state).
  4. Shadow Sweeps & Rejections: Requires a price sweep (high above 5-period average high or low below 5-period average low) accompanied by wick rejection (wicks taking up >30% of the bar range) to confirm institutional liquidity sweeps.

What does the indicator show?

  • Oscillator Line (Cyan) & Signal Line (Pink): Shown in the sub-panel. Reversals are triggered when the oscillator line is in the overbought/oversold zones and crosses its signal line.
  • Acceleration Histogram: Zero-centered histogram colored by growth and decay of acceleration, showing shifts in buying/selling force.
  • Price Overlay Lines: Displays blue Entry, red Stop Loss, and three green Take Profit lines (TP1, TP2, TP3) dynamically calculated using an ATR multiplier.
  • Status Dashboard: A premium, clean visual dashboard displaying the trend state, Kaufman ER, and target distance.

Trading Strategies

  • Sniper Reversal Sweep: Enter a trade when a green Buy or red Sell tag prints. Place a stop loss at the Stop Line, and set orders to take partial profits at TP1, TP2, and TP3.
  • Exhaustion Filter: Avoid entering trends when the dashboard indicates a low Kaufman ER (exhaustion zone), and focus exclusively on swing reversals instead.
